CURRICULAM / LEARNING SCHEME

  • English is the medium of instruction and examination.
  • Classrooms are equipped with digital technology to ensure learning becomes joyful and interactive.
  • The academic year extends from March to December and is divided into two terms, ending June and December. The school has a short summer break for 10 days after the first term and a long winter break of approximately 2 to 2½ months at the end of the academic year.
  • In addition to regular subjects like English, Hindi, Maths, Social Studies, Science and Environmental Education, the school also teaches music, art, craft and physical education. Computer education starts right from Class I. The students are also encouraged to take an active interest in their environment through Nature study. Regular sports and games are compulsory for the students.
  • Children are entertained / educated through recreational facilities like learning – based video films on a regular basis. Moral education forms an integral part of the curriculum.
  • Social work projects are compulsory for the pupils. This is to teach them dignity of labour and also to understand the problems of society.

LEARNING SCHEME

The management and teachers of LPS, Nainital have transformed their vision of LPS culture into reality.
CLASSES I & II: The school’s focus at this level is to make the transition between the secure home environment and formal schooling an interesting experience for the child. The child is encouraged to imagine, show creativity and provided with ample opportunity to express himself freely. LPS ensures developing basic language skills and conversational ability. The curriculum is child centric and all the activities are planned according to the needs and ability of the child. Various celebrations and round the year class activities allow for self expression and confidence building.

CLASSES III TO V: The child already familiar with basic skills in English language is now initiated into more formal instruction through interactive techniques and application. In science the focus is on developing scientific skills and aptitude and in making the child aware of his surroundings. In mathematics the problem solving techniques are taught using different methods viz : models & concepts. Music is an integral part of curriculum.
The extracurricular activities, round the year inter house activities and class activities allow children not only to gain confidence but also helps them to realize their potential in different fields. The main aim at this level is to lay solid foundation and prepare children to understand more complex information at higher levels.

CLASSES VI TO X: The course of studies are based on CBSE guidelines, offering formal education in subjects like English, Hindi, Maths, Science, Social Studies, Computer and Environmental Education.
Music and Sports forms an integral part of education. Students are also exposed to inter school competitions and tournaments in school or outside school.
The extracurricular activities, round the year, inter house activities and class activities continue to be a part of day-to-day curriculum that helps children in all round development.
